Romeo on living in expensive places
A comment on this LessWrong post:
Trying to do things in the most expensive/competitive places to live is often needlessly punishing.
Even if you have slack, you'll be trying to coordinate with people who don't. Plus, mimesis.
The "trying to coordinate with people who don't have slack" thing resonates with me. I'm fortunate enough to have a fair measure of slack in my life, these days, but a substantial subset of people I interact with do not.
